REXX is a programming language intended "to make programming easier than it was before," according to the original designer of the language, Michael F. The standardized REXX language will include alterations as decided by X3J18 to promote portability, reliability, maintainability, and efficient execution of REXX programs on a variety of computing systems. Both compiling and interpreting REXX programs will be considered. It is anticipated that the REXX standard can be completed in 1992. Anyone interested in participating in this project is invited to the first meeting of X3J18 on January 8-9, 1991, starting at 10:00 a.m. at CBEMA, 311 First St. NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC 20001-2178.
